HOLT NORFOLK HOLIDAY COTTAGES NORFOLK

PEBBLE COTTAGE the first of our NORFOLK COTTAGES

The very best in Norfolk Holiday cottages situated in Holt Norfolk.

When you invest a large part of your holiday budget in the rental of a holiday cottage, in particular a Norfolk Cottage, you want to be sure that you are getting the very best and that you will have holiday
accommodation that is very comfortable, easy to manage and offers something that maybe you would not
have at home, perhaps a unique character and charm.

In offering our Norfolk Cottages for your holiday, which is special for you, our simple intention is to provide
a Norfolk Cottage that you will be sorry to leave, wished you had booked for longer and want to return to.

Our starting point was to provide Norfolk Cottages that are suitable for all year round holiday
accommodation use whilst remaining spacious enough to be used as a day to day luxury cottage home.
Although East Anglia is amongst the driest and sunniest places in the country it is England and it does rain
and it does get cold at appropriate times. This means our Norfolk Cottages are designed to be lived in, not
just as somewhere to put one’s head at night for a few hours. We live here in a Norfolk Cottage ourselves
and equip our Norfolk holiday cottage to a standard equal, although different, to our own home taking the
view that we would be happy to live there 365 days a year.

Pebble cottage itself dates back to the early nineteenth century and the original building, comprising four cottages is reputedly the oldest in the lane and around two hundred years old.

The holiday cottage was refurbished, modernised and to some extent rebuilt in 2006/7. The interior was completely renewed and electrical systems renewed to current standards as well as having a new central heating system.

All of this was done whilst retaining the historical charm and cosy feeling of a traditional Norfolk cottage with holiday cottage use in mind.

In September of 2008, following a change of ownership of the cottage at the beginning of the
summer, the dining room furniture was replaced with new superior items more in keeping with the
atmosphere of the cottage. The beds and bedroom furniture were also replaced with new items and the mattresses with superior high quality products together with all new bedding linen and pillows. Apart from
the built-in cooker and hob all of the kitchen equipment has been replaced and the cottage now has a new refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine as well as all new crockery, cutlery and other fittings and
small electrical and other items.

This Norfolk Cottage has a cosy lounge diner which benefits from light from three aspects and is effectively lit by the sun throughout the daylight hours whenever there is sunshine.

The holiday cottage patio leading into the dining area is an ideal place just to sit and read, with or without a glass of wine, and take advantage of the sun in a sheltered location or simply take an afternoon nap. An unusual feature are the door hinges which permit the doors to be folder flush to the cottage walls to allow maximum space with minimal obstruction.

The separate private enclosed garden to our Norfolk Cottage is regularly tended by a gardener and is a safe place for young children, although as always the very young should be supervised, as well as being a
delightful spot just to sit or to take advantage of the barbeque and garden furniture.

Also next to the garden is the private off road parking area and carport of the holiday cottage.

Turning back to the interior of this Norfolk Cottage there are two bedrooms on the first floor, one with a
double pine bed and the other with two pine singles, as mentioned all are new and have new high quality mattresses and bedding. In addition there is a dressing room/small third bedroom adjacent to the double bedroom which has a single futon bed suitable, we would say, for a young child although for an adult it is not recommended for more than a weekend or an occasional night or two. There is adequate room for a travel cot (which is available with mattress) for a baby or very young child but you will need to bring your own bedding.
Wardrobes and chests of drawers provide space for clothing and other items.

In addition there is a bright shower room with w.c. (the cottage also has a downstairs cloakroom w.c.
adjacent to the kitchen).

Returning to the lounge of the holiday cottage there are two comfortable settees and also a wood burning stove for the colder seasons to provide a real Norfolk Cottage atmosphere and a supplement or alternative to the central heating that will always keep you warm whereas the log burner really makes you feel warm and creates a wonderful atmosphere.

A television, with access to freeview digital services, DVD and video player and music system playing both tapes and cds are also provided.

The one downside is that as in most traditional Norfolk Cottages the stairs are a little steeper than in modern properties. For young children we have available removable stair gates for both the top and bottom of the staircase. The former being somewhat unique as it is made to fit a curved wall, another common feature of traditional Norfolk Cottages.

A major advantage of Pebble Cottage when compared to many other Norfolk Cottages is simply where it is!
It is situated in a quiet lane some five or ten minutes walk of the centre of the Georgian market town of Holt, North Norfolk with all its unique attractions and shopping but without the noise and traffic that sometimes come with being in the centre.

The interior pictures on this site are all taken from inside of the holiday cottage, except for the view from the patio, and give a good indication of the standard of this Norfolk Cottage. What they cannot do justice to is the atmosphere and comfort - for that you will just have to come to Pebble Cottage, the best of Norfolk Cottages.

We look forward to seeing you.
